Bruce Harpster Berger Jr.

GRANGER - Bruce H. Berger Jr., 93, of Granger, passed away at 7:10 a.m. Monday, September 28th, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center. Bruce was born November 12, 1916, in South Bend, to Bruce and Marguerite (Stull) Berger Sr.

Bruce was preceded in death by his sister, Sarah Ann Bartlett, and a brother, William A. Berger.

On June 29, 1941, in Fremont, IN, Bruce married Margaret G. Housman, who survives. Also surviving are his daughter, Kaye Margaret Brown of South Bend; two granddaughters, Lisa Ciastko of Valparaiso, IN, and Lora Davis of Mishawaka; a great-granddaughter, Sarah Davis; and a brother, James R. (Jeannie) Berger of Melrose, FL.

Bruce proudly served his country in WWII with the Army Air Force, and was a member of Masonic Lodge #45 and Scottish Rite. Bruce was also an avid football fan. He retired in 1981 from Wheelabrator Corporation as an engineer after 32 years of service.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, 17033 Cleveland Road, with Rev. Carolyn Kern officiating. Entombment will follow at Riverview Cemetery, with military honors. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home, where a Masonic memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. In Bruce's memory, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association , 3816 Payshpere Circle, Chicago, IL 60674.
