M. Geraldine “Gerry” Colip

March 20, 1916 – April 12, 2006

Mary Geraldine “Gerry” Colip, 90, died Wednesday, April 12, 2006. A resident of St.Paul’s Retirement Community for 25 years, she had resided there with her mother, Maude Colip, until her mother’s death in 1983.She remained a neighbor, at St. Paul’s, of her brother-in-law, A.Ried Thompson, and her sister, Dorothy Colip Thompson, until their respective deaths in 1985 and 1998. Gerry attended Riley High School in South Bend and Ashland College in Ashland, Ohio. She enjoyed a long career as executive secretary to Arthur Fredrickson, owner of a major candy distributorship in downtown South Bend.

Gerry is survived by sister- in-law, Olga (William L.) Colip.

She was preceded in death by sister-in-law, Jane (Charles D.) Colip; sister, Dorothy; brothers, Charles and William; and their parents, Charles E. and Maude Colip.

A celebration of Gerry’s life will be held by the family in a private service at Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, South Bend. Any memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Heritage Fund for ministries of the ecumenical chapel.
