Minnie Mae (Galbreath) Clair, 86, of 1129 Blaine Avenue, South Bend, Ind., died Saturday afternoon, June 7, in Regency Place of South Bend. Minnie Mae Galbreath was born Feb.17, 1917, in Indianapolis, Ind., to Lawrence E.and Minnie (Freund) Galbreath.Her parents are both deceased. Her only sister, Caroline G. Curran of New Carrollton, Md., died Oct.1, 1998.

The family moved to South Bend in 1926.Minnie Mae went to Lincoln Elementary School and graduated from Riley High School in 1935. She worked for the School City of South Bend as a secretary at Nuner School for 10 years.

On Jan. 4, 1947, she was married in the Cathedral of St. James to John H. Clair of Philadelphia, Pa. She met him when he was a staff sergeant in the United States Air Force, stationed at Bendix Field. They lived in Philadelphia for one year before returning to South Bend. She worked as the book store clerk at Central High School for 13 years, retiring in September 1953.

John died on Feb.17, 1972, after which she worked for the St. Joseph County Extension Office as the 4-H secretary for 10 years. She retired in May 1984. She was a member of the Cathedral of St.James, the American Association of Retired Persons, St.Joseph County Humane Society, Pet Refuge, Southhold Restoration, Retired School Secretaries and the Riley Lunch Bunch.
