Jane Callendor (Eshenbaugh) Marvel

Jane E. Marvel, 90, passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 29, 2010 surrounded by her family.

She is the beloved mother of Gary L. Marvel of Delray Beach, FL. Cherished grandmother of Cheryl A. Edwards and husband Kent Edwards of Benton, KY; Melissa A. Buddeke and husband Paul Buddeke of Louisville, KY; Edward W. Marvel and wife Tanya M. Marvel of Brooklyn Park, MN; and Michelle E. Marvel of Delray Beach, FL; and loving great-grandmother of Bradley, Devyn, Ashley, Lauren, Luke, Owen, Eli, and Maia. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Gerald E. Marvel, and their son Wayne E. Marvel.

Jane was born in La Porte, Indiana on November 26, 1919. She was the middle child of three including her older brother, Leon, and her younger sister, Beverly. She met Jerry on a blind date, and they were married in the parsonage of the Evangelical Church in South Bend, Indiana on October 15, 1939. Together they forged a life that took them across the country, spanned interesting times in our nation's history, and resulted in a beautiful family.

While in South Bend, Jane was an avid golfer and an active member of the Morris Park Country Club with many tournament wins to her credit. In Florida, she continued to golf, even making a "Hole In One" at Jonathan's Landing. She loved to cook, bake pies, and entertain. She was a wonderful seamstress and quilter, creating numerous memorable family heirlooms to be cherished for all time.
