Virginia Mae Fitch

SOUTH BEND Virginia Mae Fitch, 74, of St. Joseph's Care CenterWest, formerly of South St. Joseph Street, died at 7:50 p.m. Monday in the nursing home. Miss Fitch was a former physical therapist for Northern Indiana Children's Hospital and retired from the South Bend Community School Corp. after serving as a first- and second-grade teacher for more than 40 years.

She was born April 25, 1921, in South Bend. She is survived by two sisters, Betty Hans and Miriam Harvey, both of South Bend; and two nephews, John Hans of Edwardsburg and Randy Harvey of South Bend.

She was a member of the American Association of University Women and a graduate of Purdue University and Goshen Colllege.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, 1201 S. Michigan St. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home.
