Henrietta (Haack) Montgomery

Henrietta (Haack) Montgomery, 86, of South Bend, died Saturday, Nov. 18, in the Holy Cross Care & Rehabilitation Center. Henrietta was born April 17, 1920, in South Bend, to Frederick and Ethel Haack, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her sister, Loretta, and a son, Thomas.

On December 9, 1946, in South Bend, Henrietta married John W. Montgomery. Judge Montgomery died July 11, 2006.

Surviving are three sons, John W. Jr. of South Bend, James W. (Crystal) of Athens, Ohio, and William W. (Pamela) of South Bend; three grandchildren, Sarah A., Caroline K. and John B. Montgomery; and a sister, Harrietta Conklin of East Moline, Ill.

Henrietta was a loving mother to her children and wife to her husband. Being the mother of four sons, she happily welcomed her daughter-in-law and her two granddaughters into the family. She adored each of her grandchildren very much. She was very artistic and extremely accomplished at cross-stitch and the use of subtle humor. This gentle soul will be greatly missed.

Private services and interment will be held at Riverview Cemetery, South Bend. There will be no visitation.
