Horace H. Hartman, 58, of Mt. Pleasant, Mich., a longtime former resident of the South Bend area, died on Oct. 8 at Central Michigan Community Hospital. He was born on Aug. 31, 1920, in Nappanee, and lived for many years in this area, moving to Mt. Pleasant about 11 years ago. Hartman was the owner of A-1 Janitorial Services, Mt. Pleasant.

Surviving are his widow, Margaret Ellen French Hartman; three daughters, Mrs. Katherine Lombard of Ithaca, Mich., and Mary and Martha, both at home; three sons, David of Mt. Pleasant, Mark of Fort Wayne, and Paul of South Bend; three stepsons, Arthur Bahr of South Bend, Paul Bahr of Caro, Mich., and Andrew Bahr of Mt. Pleasant; several grandchildren; and a brother, Albert Hartman of Warsaw.

Hartman was an army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Elks Lodge, the Moose Lodge, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, the C.M.U. Century Club and the Isabella County Builders Association.

Services were held on Oct. 11 at the First Presbyterian Church and burial was in Memorial Gardens, Mt. Pleas ant, Mich.
