Noble George Heidrich
Dec 2, 1919 - Apr 7, 1972
NEW BUFFALO - The body of Noble George Heidrich, 52, of 1202 Fairfax Ave., South Bend, who drowned Friday afternoon after he apparently slipped from a powerboat he was repairing in Snug Harbor, has been found in about 10 feet of water 12 feet from shore. Lt. William Beilman, of the Berrien County Sheriff's Department said the body was found at 11:30 a.m. Sunday 30 feet from his boat near a pier. Lt. Beilman said the pier did not belong to Heidrich, and he said perhaps Heidrich had walked over to another pier and fell in the harbor. Beilman said the dragging operations were concentrated on Heidrich's pier but another officer had struck the body with a boat pole in an area where a 55-gallon drum had been pulled up earlier. An autopsy was to be performed to determine the cause of death. Heidrich had a heart ailment. He was the owner of a South Bend vending machine firm.
