Elizabeth “Betty” (Marker) Galanis

Sept. 5, 1921 – Feb. 22, 2004 Elizabeth “Betty” Galanis.Betty loved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt passed away Sunday, Feb.22, in Tucson, Ariz. She was born to the late Sandy and Martha Marker in South Bend, Ind., on Sept.5, 1921.

She married Richard Beissel in March 1940 in South Bend.He passed away February 1962. She married Alex Galanis in 1968 and he passed away in 1977.

Betty is survived by seven children;11 grandchildren;and many nieces and nephews.Sons, Richard (Patty) Beissel, and Tom and Dan Galanis;daughters, Joan, Jane, Mary and Kay;a sister, Ruth Hahaj;and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Lies, both of South Bend.

Rosary was said Friday, Feb.27 in the Southlawn Mortuary at 7:30 p.m.Memorial services will be at 10 a.m.today, Feb.28 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 215 So Craycroft, Tucson, AZ 85711. Memorials may be made in her name to the Leukemia Society or Memphona or Direct to Richard Beissel, 735 E.Forest Hills, Phoenix, AZ 85022
