William A. Wukovits

SOUTH BEND - William A. Wukovits, 71, of Rock Maple Court, died at 1:18 p.m. Sunday in St. Joseph's Care Center Mr. Wukovits retired as a safety engineer for Aetna Casualty Insurance Co. after 17 years of service. He was born Sept. 4, 1920, in South Bend and was a lifelong area resident.

On Sept. 9, 1944, in Mishawaka, he married Anne G. Straczynski. She survives with two daughters, Mary Andersen, of Littleton, Colo., and Anne Waruszewski, of Tulsa, Okla.; a son, Bill, of Wheaton, Ill.; nine grandchildren; a sister, Theresa Healey, of South Bend; and a brother, Victor, of Mishawaka.

He was a veteran of World War II, member of Knights of Columbus Santa Maria Council 553 and member of Father J.A. Nieuwland General Assembly, former member of St John the Baptist Catholic Church, and was a graduate of the University of Notre Dame. Memorial services were to be at 10 a.m. today in Corpus Christi Catholic Church.

Burial will be at Highland Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Kaniewski & Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Parkinson's Disease Foundation or the church
