Ruth (Wukowich) Mayerhofer

June 3, 1920 - July 26, 2012

MISHAWAKA - Ruth M. Mayerhofer, 92, passed away at 1:29 am Thursday, July 26, 2012 in St. Joseph Regional Med Center. Ruth was born on June 3, 1920 in Edwardsburg, MI to Robert and Marie (Gruber) Wukowich.

She retired in 1985 from the Congregation of Holy Cross, Indiana Provincial. Ruth was an avid bowler and a member of St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church, D.F.V. German Club Ladies Auxiliary, Riley Lunch Bunch, and National Association of Retired Federal Employees. On December 26, 1969 she married George Mayerhofer, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Karen Reed of South Bend; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Greene of Mishawaka; 5 grandchildren, Leslye Russell and Heidi Pack both of Nashville, TN, Daniel Greene, Brian Greene and Taylor Greene all of Mishawka; 5 great-grandchildren, Blake Newman, Tristyn Russell, Laine Russell, Brandon Pack and Logan Pack all of Nashville; and one great-great-grandson, Charlie Newman of Nashville; a sister, Frances Mattasits of South Bend; 3 stepdaughters, Rose Ellen (Bill) Cabanaw of Osceola, Ronnie (Mike) Hensley and Cindy Artusi both of Mishawaka; 4 step-grandchildren, Mike Schimmel, Ashley Schimmel, Brian (Roxy) Artusi, and Richard Artusi; and 4 step-great-grandchildren, Malina Schimmel, Grace Artusi, Grayden Artusi and Gavin Artusi. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Roger Greene. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Monday, July 30, 2012 in St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in Riverview Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 3-7 Sunday in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue.
