Margaret Louise (Buchanan) Petrie

June 26, 1920 - July 8, 2010

GRANGER - Margaret Louise (Buchanan) Petrie, 90, of Granger, passed away Thursday, July 8th, in her residence. Born in Detroit, MI, she was the daughter of the late Robert James and Christine Carlene (Granell) Buchanan.

On November 19, 1955, she married Harry Petrie, who passed away in September 1987.

Margaret was employed as a secretary by Oliver Chilled Plow Works, later White Farm Equipment, until her retirement in 1955. She was a member of Delta Theta Chi, Epsilon Chapter Social Sorority, Granger Lions Club, First Presbyterian Church of Edwardsburg, the Women's Group at the church, and was involved with the PHM Schools PTA.

Margaret is survived by her daughter, Chrissie Mac Kenzie of South Bend; a brother, William J. Buchanan of South Bend; grandchildren, Tammy (Alec) Breden of Granger, Sarah Mac Kenzie of South Bend, Michael (Marianne) DePoy of Plymouth, Terry (Susan) DePoy Jr. of Denver, CO, and Rene (Carol) Secor of Dowagiac; a stepdaughter, Vesta Principe of Port Charlotte, FL; a niece, Susan (Robert) Smith of South Bend; two nephews, John (Cherry) Buchanan of Plano, TX, and Greg (Linda) Buchanan of Brownsburg, IN; and six great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a stepdaughter, Joann Morrison.

A memorial service to celebrate Margaret's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday in McGann Hay Funerals | Cremations | Gatherings, Granger Chapel, 13260 SR 23 (enter off Cherry Road), with Rev. Scott P. Scheel, pastor of Edwardsburg Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial of her ashes will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.
