Mary K. (Gilliom) Hinderer

Mary K. Hinderer of Ann Arbor passed away peacefully on January 26, 2013. She was born on July 1, 1922 to Nancy and Elmer Gilliom, the third of five children. She was raised in South Bend, IN. She was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.

She is survived by a sister, Elizabeth Holmgren of Tucson, AZ, three children, Susan Hall of Mobile, AL, Marilyn Raymond (Bradley) of Alexandria, VA and Steven Hinderer (Kathleen) of Ann Arbor, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

She married Robert F. Hinderer on November 22, 1944 while he was serving in the Navy during World War II. He preceded her in death on February 28, 2008.

Mary was known for her beautiful annual flower gardens and landscaping. She was an immaculate homemaker, dedicated mother and wife. She was proud that all three of her children became health care professionals and cared for individuals with disabilities. She enjoyed playing bridge regularly with a group of friends. She will be very much missed by her family.

Mary's memorial service will be held: Friday, February 1, 2013 at 2:00 pm with reception following on-site, First Presbyterian Church Monteith Hall, 1432 Washtenaw, Ann Arbor, Michigan 48104. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be sent in Mary's name to the First Presbyterian Church youth ministry in which all three of her children participated and enjoyed.
