SOUTH BEND - Robert J. Lucas, 72. of South Michigan Street, died at 2:20 p.m. Wednesday in his home afillness. Mr. Lucas retired self-employed mechanic. He was born Dec. 17. 1921, in South Bend, and had lived in South Bend since 1981, coming from St. Petersburg, Fla.

He survived by a sister-in-law, Wanda Lukasiewicz of Seminole. Fla.; and two nieces, Linda Richards of Pinellas Park, Fla., and Vera Garbo of Seminole.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Hanley & Sons Funeral Home. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to any charity
