John J. Miller Jr.

SOUTH BEND - John J. Miller Jr., 73, of Foster Street, died at 7:10 a.m. Wednesday in Memorial Hospital of natural causes. Mr. Miller retired in 1983 from Bendix Corp. as foreman in the energy controls division after 38 years of service.

He was born Aug. 25, 1921, in Toledo, Ohio, and lived in South Bend most of his life. On June 4, 1942, in South Bend, he married Evelyn Ruth Schall. She died March 30, 1992. He is survived by two daughters, Randa Kay Persinger of Enumclaw, Wash and Barbara Ann Sohr of John Day, Ore.; three sons, Mitchell L. of Seattle, Alan D. of South Bend and Creighton J. of Murray, Ky.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Helen Klebusits of Mishawaka, Betty Kuzmits of South Bend and Madeline Parko of San Diego.

He was a member of Epworth Memorial United Methodist Church, served on the board of directors of AAA Federal Credit Union and was a former volunteer for Boy Scouts of America.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3402 Lincoln Way W. Cremation will follow. Friends may call from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home
