Born January 4, 1921 Youngstown, Ohio, died April 27, 2000, after a brief illness. He received his B.A. from Franklin College, Franklin, Indiana and his Ph.D. from Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana. He began his teaching career at Michigan State University in 1955, retiring in 1986.

He was preceded in death by a son, Edward. Surviving are his loving wife of 59 years, LaVerne; daughter, Carol (William) Wallis; ten grandchildren; seven great and two brothers.

He was an avid reader, enjoyed hunting and working with watches and clocks.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 1, 10 a.m. at the Gorsline-Runciman Co. East Chapel, 1730 E. Grand River Avenue, East Lansing with the Rev. Keith Pohl officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Lansing. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Those desiring may make contributions to the Ingham County Medical Care Facility, 3860 Dobie Road, Okemos 48864 in memory of Mr. Natharius
