Frank Beres, 76, of Aberdeen Drive, South Bend, Ind., died at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. He was born on Feb. 2, 1921, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area' resident. He retired in 1986 from the South Bend Community School Corporation as a maintenance engineer.
Mr. Beres was married on Aug. 23, 1944, in South Bend, to Margaret Kovasics, who survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Ellen S. Chadwick of South Bend; two sons, Michael K. (Kika) Beres of South Bend and Thomas G. (Lynn) Beres of Granger, Ind.; five grandchildren, Christopher Beres, Allison Beres and Kathryn Beres, all of Granger, Mark Beres and Lauren Beres, both of South Bend; and by a brother, Emery Beres of Lake Arrowhead, Calif.
Mr. Beres was an Army veteran of World War II and was a recipient of the Purple Heart, received in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 6 and St. Jude Catholic Church.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the St. Joseph Funeral Home, 1827 E. Ireland Road, South Bend. A Rosary will be said at 3 p.m. today in the funeral home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at St. Jude Catholic Church with entombment to follow in Highland Cemetery.
