Vaughn Eugene “Gene” Davis

MISHAWAKA - Vaughn E. "Gene" Davis , 71, of Village Drive, died at 7:04 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Hospital, South Bend, of natural causes. Mr. Davis retired in 1990 from Lake City Heat Treating Co. He was born Feb. 28, 1923, in Mishawaka and was a lifelong area resident.

On July 3, 1943, in South Bend, he married Della Smith. She survives with two daughters, Nancy Torbenson of South Bend and Patricia Hickman of Lakeville; two sons, Gerald of Lakeville and William of Plymouth; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was a veteran of World War II with the Army 875th Bomb Squadron of the 498th Bomb Group.

Private services and burial will be held. There will be no visitation. Forest G. Hay Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Coronary Care Unit of Memorial Hospital.
