Marguerite L. (Gillies) Sweet

Marguerite L. Sweet, 85, died peacefully Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008. She was born May 14, 1922, the only daughter of John M. and Elizabeth A. Evans Gillies. Marguerite was a member of the New Covenant Church of Rosenberg where she enjoyed many church activities and found the love of a good man, Ray Sweet, her wonderful husband of 12 years. She called Texas home, moving here from Ohio to be near her family. Alzheimer's Disease slowly stole her away from those who loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved son, Michael I. Kring; and brothers: Duncan, Ray and Carl Gillies.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Ray Sweet of Rosenberg; sons, Kent J. Kring and wife, Kathe, of Richmond, and Roys Tews and wife, Betty, of Lorain, OH.; daughters, Lisa Tews of Mesa, Ariz., and Pam Dostal of Richmond; brothers, Ken Gillies of Walkerton, Ind., and Ralph Gillies of Elyria, OH.; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Marguerite's life is at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008 in the community room of Fort Bend Gardens, 313 Lane Dr. in Rosenberg. Burial is at 1 p.m. Saturday at San Gabriel Cemetery on Ransom Road in Richmond. Burial arrangements are entrusted to Garden Oaks Funeral Home, 13430 Bellaire Blvd. in Houston, 281-530-5400.
