SOUTH BEND - George S. Goebel, 68, of Gaylord, Mich., formerly of South Bend, died Monday at Munson Medical Center, Traverse City, Mich., after an illness. Mr. Goebel was born Oct. 12, 1922, in South Bend, and moved to the Gaylord area 20 years ago. His wife, Ruth, died in 1987.
Surviving are two nieces, Janice Smith of Niles and Marilyn Gustafson of South Bend; and an aunt, Virginia Henderson of South Bend.
He was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church of Gaylord and Gaylord Sportsman's Club, and was a 1940 graduate of Riley High School.
Services were Wednesday evening at Peace Lutheran Church. Burial was to be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola
