Lieut. K. Norris Harshbarger

HARSHBARGER, RILEY ALUMNUS, KILLED IN RAID Lieut. K. Norris Harshbarger, 21, radio-navigator on a Flying Fortress and a former South Bend resident, was killed April 11 on a bombing mission over Europe, according to word received here Saturday. A grandson of Martin L. Barkman, 115.

East Bowman street, Lieut. Harshbarger was born in Rochester, Ind., spent his boyhood in that city and in Kewanna, Ind., and later came to South Bend with his parents. He was graduated from Riley High school and enlisted in the army air forces in 1942. Before leaving for overseas last fall he spent a leave in South Bend and Rochester.

Besides his grandfather, surviving is his mother, Mrs.Mary Jane Blackwell, of Miami Beach, Fla., and two aunts, including Mrs. Eunice Coplen, of Rochester. His father, Norris Harshbarger, sr., died several years ago
