Gertrude M. Pinter, 83, of South Bend, passed away at 4:50 a.m.Tuesday, July 18, 2006, in her residence. Mrs.Pinter was born on August 23, 1922, in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, to Joseph and Veronica (Kurynski) Hintz. She was employed by Wilson Brothers and Studebaker, and retired from Indiana Bell in 1983 after 37 years of service.

Gertrude was a member of Holy Family Church, the American Telephone Pioneers, The P.Buckley Moss Society, and The Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation Gertrude had a passion for quilting and loved making quilts and wall hangings for her family and friends. She also enjoyed the artwork of P. Buckley Moss which you could find displayed throughout her house. What Gertrude loved most was her family and friends, especially her two grandchildren, Nicole and Joseph. She loved them dearly and they brought her great pride.

On November 30, 1946, in South Bend, as Gertrude Hintz, she married Joseph J. Pinter, who died on December 24, 1980.She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Leo Hintz and Robert Hintz.

Surviving are a son, Joseph L.(Margaret) Pinter of South Bend;two grandchildren, Nicole Pinter and Joseph R.

Pinter;a sister, Judith Cira of South Bend;and two brothers, Norbert (Marge) Hintz of South Bend and Raymond (Barbara) Hintz of Overland Park, KS. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m.Friday, July 21, 2006, in Holy Family Catholic Church.
