SOUTH BEND Charles William Keiter Jr., 72, of Escondido, Calif., formerly of 1380 E. Berkshire Drive, died Saturday in his home after an illness. Mr. Keiter retired as a self-employed stockbroker. He was born 30, 1921, in Detroit and lived in South Bend for 45 years before going to ifornia seven years ago.
On Jan. 11, 1941, in South Bend, he married Norma Jane Auer. She survives with four sons, John M. of New York City, David M. of Davidsonville, Md., Charles W. III of Charleston, S.C., and Joseph L. of Menifee, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and two greatchildren.
He was a veteran of World War II and member of Al Bahr Shrine Temple, San Diego; American Legion J.B. Clark Post 149, Escondido; Elks and Loyal Order of Escondido.
Memorial services took place today in American Legion J.B. Clark Post 149, Escondido. Cremation has taken place. Burial will be at a later date in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Hollis Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the American F Heart Association.
