NEW CARLISLE - James R. "Dick" Paul, 63, of 54098 Tulip Road, died about 8:22 p.m. Thursday at his home after an illness.

Mr. Paul retired from American Home Foods, LaPorte. He was born Sept. 26, 1926, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident. On Aug. 26, 1944, in South Bend, be married Vera M. Rowe, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Bonnie Martensen and Penny Garcia, both of New Carlisle; a son, Douglas C. of South Bend; six grandchildren; and sister, Betty Wensits of Bear Lake, Mich

He was a veteran of World War II and a member of New Carlisle American Legion, member and past master of Terre Coupee Masonic Lodge 204, member of Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend and Order of Eastern Star Chapter 320.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St. Burial will be at New Carlisle Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where Masonic memorial services will be at 6 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County Inc
