Erwin J. Hoff Sr., 88, of West Marion, Mishawaka, passed away at 10:50 a.m. Friday, April 22, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend.

Erwin was born on June 5, 1916, in Devil's Bend, MN, to John S. and Pearl (Cruthers) Hoff. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by a sister, Phyllis Love. On January 1, 1937, in South Bend, he married the former Mamie J. Miller, who preceded him in death on May 7, 1962.

On July 4, 1963, in Mishawaka, he married Pauline Ritter, who survives. Also surviving are his three children, Judith Henthorn of South Bend, Gloria Banks of Austin, IN, and Erwin J. (Barbara) Hoff Jr. of Kenton, OH; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Norma Ruetter of South Bend and Vera McKeough of Granger; three stepdaughters, Sue (Murray) Modlin of Mishawaka, Jeannie Saunders of Columbus, OH, and Paula (Jerry) Seiler of Mishawaka; two stepsons, Warren Ritter of Mishawaka and Michael (Pam) Ritter of Lakeville, IN.

Erwin graduated from Riley High School.

He worked as an assembler at South Bend Lathe for 45 years before he retired in 1981. Erwin was a St. Joseph Valley Scottish Rite Mason, ABC (American Bowling Congress) Hall of Fame, a Riley High School alumni president, treasurer of the Ford Car Club, founder and treasurer of The South Bend Lathe Credit Union and was an Emmanuel Baptist Church deacon and treasurer.

Family and friends may visit from 2 to 6 on Sunday in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. on Monday in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of donor's choice
