Raymond Elliott Hughes

Mr. Hughes passed away at the age of 98. Cherished husband of the late Mary Alice. Loving father of a daughter, Patricia Belle (Donald),  son, John (Peggy), and the late Cheryl. Beloved sibling of two sisters, Mary Marlette and Laura Shaw. 

He was predeceased recently by his wife Mary Alice, and his daughter Cheryl. His parents were Charles Raymond and Rachel Reder.

He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He had been a Mason for 70 years. Before retiring from Sears & Roebuck & Co., after 33 years, he had been an auditor and comptroller. He then served as a Deputy Director of Highland Park General Hospital, until it closed. He belonged to the United Methodist Church in Birmingham, where he had served as an usher and as a volunteer. He exercised regularly and was mentally fit as well. He liked woodworking.

Arrangements by A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home, at the Vesu, Rodgers, and Connell Chapel, in Royal Oak. An inurnment took place.
