October 18, 1921 ~ January 15, 2025

Wanda D. Flesher, a cherished educator, loving family matriarch, and friend to many, passed away in Raclin House on the afternoon of January 15, 2025, at the age of 103. Born on October 18, 1921, in Redkey, Indiana, to Ferris LaVere Mock and Lillian Grace (Whittern) Mock, Wanda's life was a testament to her enduring spirit and commitment to her community.

Wanda's journey began in the small town of Redkey, but then she grew up with her brothers, Dana and Ferris Mock, in South Bend.  She found her lifelong partner in G. Clifford Flesher, and they united in marriage on May 22, 1943. Their love story spanned nearly 65 years until Clifford's passing on May 13, 2008. Together, they raised a family that included their daughter, Sherlyn Sue Flesher, who predeceased them, their devoted daughter, Shirley (Robert) Peterson, and their son, Clifford E. Flesher. Wanda is also survived by sisters-in-law Barbara Mock and Aloma Whitesell. Wanda's legacy continued to grow with her beloved grandchildren, Gail Peterson DDS, Dr. Sara (Corey) Schrader, Kimberly (Abel) Orelove, and Bethany (Mark) Holtz, who brought her immense joy. She was also a proud great-grandmother to eight great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Wanda was also preceded in death by sister-in-law, Beverly Mock.

Wanda's passion for education led her to achieve a degree in the field, dedicating her career to shaping young minds as a 7th and 8th Grade Math teacher. Her tenure at various junior high schools, including Lakeville Jr-Sr School, Hamilton, Jackson, and Centre Jr High, was marked by her unwavering commitment to her students and her innovative teaching methods. Outside the classroom, Wanda's life was filled with the simple pleasures that brought her happiness. She was known for her culinary skills, a fantastic cook whose recipes were cherished by family and friends alike. Her love for her dogs was evident to all who knew her, and her involvement in her grandchildren's lives was a source of great fulfillment.

The funeral service to honor and celebrate Wanda's life will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at Palmer Funeral Home - River Park Chapel. Family and friends are invited to gather one hour prior to the service at 10 am. Wanda will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Cemetery in Redkey, Indiana.
