Yvonne Marie Fultz (aged 50)

Jul. 25, 1961 - Oct. 23, 2011

SOUTH BEND - On a beautiful Sunday evening, October 23, 2011, Yvonne was called home by her Heavenly Father. Janie and Archie Fultz were blessed to bring Yvonne into their union on July 25, 1961. Yvonne attended New Hope Missionary Baptist Church where she accepted our Lord and Savior at a young age. Around the age of eight she sang in the children's choir, which she really enjoyed. Yvonne graduated from Riley High School in 1978. During her high school years, Yvonne, along with three of her closest friends, were discovered by Charles Martin Sr. They became known as Charlie's Angels and sang at local talent shows. She was also a devoted cheerleader and exceptional student.

On May 20, 1978, Yvonne gave birth to the joy of her life, her one and only child, Randy. Motherhood motivated Yvonne to extend her education and pursue a career. She attended IUSB University and began her employment with the Human Rights Department of South Bend. In September 1991, Yvonne took a position with the United States Postal Service, where she has since been a faithful employee. After the passing of her sister Michelle, Yvonne dutifully became the guardian to her two nieces, Tyshaneka and Tyanna Douglas. She lovingly brought them in to her everyday life and made things work for the best.

Yvonne became a member of New Horizons Outreach Ministry under the leadership of Apostle Dennis J. and Prophetess Deborah Givens, where she served faithfully on the Usher Board. In August 2011, Yvonne proudly earned and accepted her associate degree in Theology. She was selected valedictorian.

Left to cherish Yvonne's memory are her loving and devoted son, Randolph Shelton and Brandy Lord of Osceola, IN; her parents, John and Janie Godard of Flint, MI; three brothers, Walter Alexander of Miami, FL, Robert and Archie Fultz, both of South Bend, IN; three sisters, Pamela Fultz "Yvonne's Earthly Guardian Angel," Vanessa Fultz and Angela Gadson (Carl), all of South Bend, IN; three beautiful grandchildren, Miranda, Drew and Yasmin, all of Osceola, IN; eight nieces, LaTosha, Reinie, Megan, Brittney, Ja'Nae, Tyshaneka, Archae and Tyanna, all of Indiana; three nephews, Gregory "Pete" Williams of Houston, TX, Justin Wilform and Jayawana Fultz of South Bend, IN; along with 14 great-nieces and nephews. Yvonne held space in her heart for a special cousin, Regis Martin of Illinois, and sister-like childhood friend, Cynthia King-Harris of South Bend; best friends, Sean Trotter, Alex Dawson, Bonita Heard, Brian Harris, and her sidekick, Lillie "Ruth" Chandler; and a host of very special family and friends.
Preceding Yvonne in death were her father, Archie Fultz Sr.; a sister, Michelle D. Fultz; paternal grandparents, William and Arie Fultz; and maternal grandparents, George Alexander and Ola Martin. Yvonne enjoyed spending time with all of her loved ones and kept a bright smile on her face. She enjoyed attending church, working out, and watching In the Heat of the Night and Wheel of Fortune. She was a very loving grandmother and proud to be called "G." Yvonne was known for her 'Famous Cheesecake', taco salad and baked beans. She will be greatly missed by all of us.
