Mary E “MEB” (Baker) Weesner

May 3, 1921 - June 27, 2011

Mary E. Weesner, 90, formerly of Mishawaka, IN, passed away at 2:40 PM Monday, June 27, 2011, at Miller's Merry Manor, Plymouth. Mary retired as Head Cook for the South Bend Community School Corporation on June 10, 1985, after 20 years of service. She was born on May 3, 1921, in Tyner, IN, to the late Roy F. and Olive Irene (South) Baker.

On February 11, 1945, in South Bend, IN, she married Maclyn Meredith Weesner, who preceded her in death November 16, 1996.

Mrs. Weesner is survived by her two daughters, Pam Weesner and Gloria (the late Thomas Underwood, Jr.) Underwood both of South Bend and one son, Gary (Christa) Weesner of Osceola; and six grandchildren, Tracey Jean Szczepanski, Rick Steven Szczepanski, Eric Gregory (Michelle) Weesner, Marcus Maclyn (Maria) Weesner, Veronica (Goce) Grujevski and Marianne Weesner. MEB was a longtime member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, South Bend and of the Petrine Keys Club of the church. Mary taught her children to love the simple things in life. She could spend the day just window shopping with 25 cents in her pocket. She enjoyed having coffee and pie with a neighbor and watching the hummingbirds come to the feeder in her backyard. She played the organ and loved to sing. We will greatly miss her.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Friday, July 1, 2011, at Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave, South Bend. Rev. Scott Bowie will officiate.
