Gladys (Boxwell) Denney Engebretsen
Gladys Denney Engebretsen age 86, of Stuart, FL died on September 2, 2007, at Martin Memorial Medical Center. She was born on August 1, 1921, in South Bend, IN. Mrs. Engebretsen had been an area resident since 1959 coming from Mishawaka, IN.
She was a Veteran of World War II, serving in the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps where she ferried planes from factory to port.
Mrs. Engebretsen was of Methodist faith and was a member of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Palm City, FL. She was also active with the BPW, American Legion, Elks, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and the 4-H Club.
She was predeceased by her parents, Edward S. and Ila Boxwell of Stuart, her brothers Lloyd and Raymond Boxwell, her husband Carl (Ed) Engebretsen and first husband Harry W. Denney and a son Raymond E. Denney.
Survivors include three daughters, Patty (husband Skip) Arendt of Fort Pierce, FL, Judy (husband Andrew) Kay of Fellsmere, FL and Karol (husband George) Lenehan of Stuart, FL. Two sons, Billy (wife Lou Ann) Denney of Palm City, FL and Lloyd (wife Marsha) Denney, also of Palm City, FL. Grandchildren, Julie (Arendt) and Randy Reed, David and Ari Arendt, Kimberley (Bruce) and Santiago Rodriguez, Alison Bond, Farrah Kay Giurato, Jennifer A. Kay, Scott Kay, Heather Harrison-Cook, Billy Denney, Jason and Stephanie Denney, Lloyd Denney, Cody Denney, Brittany Denney, Robert Fisher, Carmen Knuff, Stephanie Enos and George Lenehan. Great-Grandchildren, Kayla and Jordan Reed, Nicolle, Kassandra and Delainey Arendt, Kelton Ray McDonald, Balin Edward Cook, Shyanna Fisher, Sabrina Denney and Hunter Enos. Also surviving are two nieces, Peggy (and husband, Charles) Mahank and Josephine (and husband, Cliff) Witkowski, a nephew Shawn Engebretsen and a brother and sister-in-law Toley and Helen Engebretsen.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 8, 2007 at Forest Hills Funeral Home, 2001 SW Murphy Road, Palm City, FL 34990. The family will be receiving friends from 2:30 p.m. until the time of service on Saturday. Inurnment will take place at Forest Hills Memorial Park Cemetery a later date and is private to the family.
