NEW CARLISLE – Jack M. Broadhurst, 87, formerly of Mishawaka, passed away after an illness at 10:30 p.m.on Saturday, April 25, 2009, in Hamilton Grove, New Carlisle. Jack was born on September 1, 1921, in North Liberty, to Glenn Broadhurst and May Alward. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by a sister, Jeanne Daugherty.

On June 30, 1960, in Mishawaka, he married the former Margaret Doyle. She survives along with a daughter, Jacqueline (James) Larrison of Coppell, TX; a sister, Joyce (Jack) Miller of New Carlisle, IN; three grandchildren, Rebecca Larrison of Riverside, CA, James and Deborah Larrison of TX; a great-granddaughter;and his devoted friend, Gina Webb. Also surviving are several nieces.

Jack was a lifetime area resident. He worked as a senior process chemist at Uniroyal for 38 years, retiring in 1983.Jack was a United States Army veteran, where he served his country proudly during WW II. He was a member of First Seventh-day Adventist Church in South Bend.

As per Jack’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or service. A private family burial will take place.A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday, May 1st, in First Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1936 E. Altgeld St., South Bend, with Pastor Throstur Thordarson officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in Jack’s name to ADRA (an organization through the church) or to The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
