Gerald M. Detweiler, 56, 3410 S. cannot St., following died an Thursday illness at Ball several Hospimonths. He was born in Goshen, was graduated from Riley High School in South Bend, and came to Muncie to attend Ball State in 1941. He was an Air Force fighter pilot instructor during World War II.

Upon returning to Muncie at the close of the war, Mr. Detweller resumed his education at Ball State where he was a member of Lambda Chi fraternity. Following graduation he was employed as assistant purchasing agent at Central Indiana Gas Company. In 1954 he organized Detweller's Shell Service on South Madison Street which he operated until 1974. Since then he was co-owner and regional vice-president of Life Data Medical Services.

He was a member of High Street United Methodist Church and a past of Delaware Kiwanis Club. president.

Surviving are his wife, Norma; a son, Don Detweiler, at home: a daughter, Mrs. Harry (Kathryn Jo) James, Indianapolis; a brother, Dean Detweiler, Hayward, Callf.; a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Stoner, Schenectady,' N. Y.; two grandchildren; and a cousin, Frederick Bigler, Goshen.

Services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in High Street United Methodist Church with Rev. A. Hunter Colpitts officiating. Cremation will follow. Friends may call at Meeks Mortuary 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday and at the church one-half hour prior to services.
