SOUTH BEND - Robert A. Downs, 69, of Decatur, Ill., formerly of South Bend, died Nov. 27 in his home. Mr. Downs retired from Rogers Cartage Co., Decatur and was employed as a security guard at First Bank of Decatur. He was born March 16, 1921, in Elkhart.
On Feb. 20, 1942, in South Bend, he married Nellie Cary, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Linda May of Decatur; a son, Larry of Evansville, Ind.; three grandchildren; and two sisters, Betty Petzold of South Bend and Helen DeHart of San Diego.
He was a veteran of World War II and formerly employed by the Indiana State Police. Cremation has taken place.
Burial will be at a later date at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. Brintlinger Funeral Home, Decatur, handled arrangements
