Edith L. (Haenes) Cofield

Edith L. Cofield, 77, of River Ridge Nursing Home, Niles, Mich., formally of York Road, South Bend, Ind., died at 4:04 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 19, at the Lakeland Medical Center, Niles. Mrs. Cofield was born in South Bend on May 20, 1920.

On Feb. 17, 1945, in South Bend, as Edith Haenes, she married Paul H. Cofield. who preceded her in death on Sept. 8, 1993.

She is survived by a daughter, Linda Van Dyke of Niles; a son, Michael Cofield of Orlando, Fla.; three grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Nieter of Warsaw, Ind.; and by two brothers, both of South Bend, Lester and Charles Haenes.

Mrs. Cofield was a member of the First Brethren Church, South Bend, the Helena Rebecca Lodge and the Women's Missionary Society. Edith loved her family, trips to Florida, the Orlando Magic basketball team, Bingo games, music and her friends, the Club Girls.

Funeral services for Mrs. Cofield will be at 11 a.m. on Friday at the First Brethren Church, South Bend. Burial will be in Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, 435 S. Ironwood Drive, South Bend.
