Steve G. Horvath

Steve G. Horvath, 84, of New Road in Bremen, passed away at 4:35 p.m. November 10, 2005, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka.

Steve was born on July 22, 1921, in South Bend to Steve and Ann Horvath. Steve's parents; a son, Todd; and a great-grandson, Josh, have all preceded him in death.

On March 7, 1942, Steve married Lora Frances Patrick, who survives. He is also survived by daughters, Karen (Charles) Little of Kansas City, Mo., Lynn (Jerry) Andrejewski of Pewaukee, Wis.; a son, Jay Horvath of Bremen; sisters, Dorothy (Bill) Hums of Mishawaka and Ella Emmons of Montoursville, Pa.; five grandchildren, Curtis, Amanda, Jason, Kelley and Lauren; and five great-grandchildren, Natalie, Nathan, Tessa, Benjamin, and Joey.

Steve graduated from James Whitcomb Riley High School in 1939. He graduated from Butler University and received his Master's degree from I.U. He later returned to Riley to teach physical education, English, science, and history. He also coached football and was the Athletic Director at Riley. He was a member of the United States Army Air Corp. He served in World War II as a Bombardier and Navigator in a B-17 with the 398th Bomber Squadron. He was wounded and received a Purple Heart and Air Medal. He belonged to the Lion's Club in Wyatt and served as a volunteer for the Soil and Water Club.

Visitation will be Sunday, November 13, 2005 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 1827 E. Ireland Road, where a Rosary will be prayed at 5:30 p.m. Visitation will also be held in St. Joseph Funeral Home, Monday, November 14, 2005, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, November 14, 2005, at 1 p.m. in Sacred Heart Church, Lakeville. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society
