Gladys E. (Hughes) Marquardt

Gladys E. Marquardt, 50, of 1532 Southwood Dr., died at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Hospital after a six-month illness.

Born Feb. 18, 1921, in LaPorte, she had lived here most of her lifetime. On Aug. 13, 1967, she was married to Lee Marquardt, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Gerald Nantkes of South Bend and Mrs. Jean-Paul Nielsen of Bloomington, Ind.; three stepsons, Donald and Wayne Marquardt Jack Webster, all of South Bend; two grandchildren and two sisters, Margaret Olila of Grosse Pointe, Mich. and Sue Ballard of San Diego, Calif.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Forest G. Hay and Son Funeral Home, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, with Rev. J. Robert Clark, pastor of Grace United Methodist Church, of which Mrs. Marquardt was a member, officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park.

Mrs. Marquardt was an employee of the Rose Fuel and Materials Co.
