Josephine H. “Jo” (Koontz) Magee
Sept. 23, 1921 – May 2, 2003
Josephine H. “Jo” Magee, 81, formerly of South Bend, Indiana, died at her home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on May 2, 2003. On May 14, 1949, she married William W. Magee, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her parents, Fred and Helen Koontz;and her twin brothers, William and Willis Koontz.
Josephine (Koontz) Magee served in the Coast Guard during World War II and was stationed in New Orleans, Louisiana. Following retirement as a personal secretary with The Wilson Group (MONY), William and Josephine moved to Baton Rouge in 1973. While in Louisiana she developed many good friends, and enjoyed gardening, golfing and her Bridge Club.
She is survived by her daughter, Martha K. (Dean R.) Keeler of South Bend; two grandchildren, Candace K. (Adam D.) Clark of South Bend and Elizabeth Jo (Brian D.) Leeper of Lakeville, Indiana. Also surviving is a great-granddaughter, Brianna Leeper.
The family would like to thank Jo’s dear friends who have always been an important part of her life, especially those who have looked after her in Louisiana. Services will be held at the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka, on Wednesday, May 7th at 11:00 a.m., with a one hour viewing before the service. Friends may call from 2-4 p.m .and 6-8 p.m. this afternoon and evening.
