SOUTH BEND — Helen Uzelac, 86, passed away at 10:50 a.m.Thursday, September 6, 2007, in Southfield Village. Helen was born on September 13, 1920, in DeKalb, Illinois, to Danilo and Kristina (Djedovich) Miskin.

On October 25, 1947, she married Mike P. Uzelac in South Bend. Mike passed away on April 7, 2005. Mrs.Uzelac was also preceded in death by two sisters, Bessie Pujo and Katherine Lang;and a brother Steve Miskin.

Mrs.Uzelac worked for the unemployment office as well as Liberty Mutual Insurance Company.She was a member of Sts.Peter & Paul Serbian Orthodox Church, the Circle of Serbian Sisters, Aleksa Shantich Choir, Serbian National Federation of which she was a local rep and the Eastern Star.

Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Sara Uzelac of Walkerton, Rich and Peggy Uzelac of Coppell, TX and Ted and Bonnie Uzelac of Dallas, TX; eight grandchildren, Michael, Hunter, Colton, Dillon, Neal, Courtney, Celeta, and Leanne;a sister-in-law, Millie Miskin of South Bend;and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m.Monday, September 10, 2007, in Sts. Peter & Paul Serbian Orthodox Church.Burial will follow in Southlawn Cemetery.Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m.Sunday, in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue, where a prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sts.Peter & Paul Serbian Orthodox Church.
