Edward Ivo Mumaw

Edward “Ed” Ivo Mumaw, 84, 418 North 16th St., Niles, passed away following a brief illness on Monday, January 2, 2006, in Silverbrook Manor. Ed was born on February 8, 1921, to the late Ben and Tillie (Schafer) Mumaw in South Bend, IN.
On July 3, 1945, Ed married Bernice I.Bowerman at a ceremony in Roseland, IN. Ed is survived by his wife, Bernice; daughter, Linda (Bob) Simpson of Howell, MI; son, Richard “Dick” (Bridget) Mumaw of Niles; one granddaughter, Tracey (Dan) Hossfeld of Niles; and one great-granddaughter, Zarah Mumaw of Niles.
In addition to his parents, Ed was also preceded in death by two brothers, George and Phil Mumaw.
Ed was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Force. Ed graduated from Riley High School in South Bend and attended Purdue University. A pipefitter most of his life, Ed retired from Havel Bros., South Bend.
A service will be held Friday, January 6, 2006, at 11 a.m. in St.John’s United Church of Christ. A private interment will follow at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to St.John’s UCC in Niles, Habitat for Humanity, or to Hospice at Home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Niles.
