William Darrell Ryan

July 14, 1921 – Sept. 23, 2007

ANDERSON, SC — William Darrell Ryan, 86, husband of Virginia Kraft Ryan, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 23rd. Born in Mankato, MN, on July 14, 1921, Mr. Ryan was the son of the late Earl Raymond Ryan and Hazel Cleo Murtaugh Ryan. He retired from the United States Postal Service. Mr. Ryan served in the United States Army during World War II. During his service he was a prisoner of war, and was also honored with the Purple Heart medal. Mr.Ryan was a member of the American Legion and the Elks Lodge.

Mr. Ryan is survived by his loving wife, Virginia Kraft Ryan; his daughter, Susan Steely; seven grandchildren, Kimberly Jory, Darrell Steely, Angela Steely Deans, Jason Ryan, Matthew Ryan, Aaron Ryan and Rachel Ryan. Mr. Ryan is also survived by five great- grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Patrick William Ryan.

A family graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept.29, in the Mausoleum Chapel of Valhalla Memory Gardens, Bloomington, IN, conducted by the Reverend Mary Jensen.
