Catherine T. “Mrs. Mel” (Paar) Stuglik

May 9, 1921 – April 14, 2003 Catherine T. “Mrs. Mel” Stuglik, 81, of Scott Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 7:10 a.m. Monday, April 14, in the Saint Joseph Med Center. Mrs.Stuglik retired in 1983 from J.C.Penney after 27 years of ser vice.She was a member of Our Lady of Hungary Church, its St. Anne Society, Sacred Heart & Rosary Society, Harvest House (past president), and was past president of the American Legion #272 Ladies Auxiliary.

Catherine was born on May 9, 1921, in South Bend, to Emerick and Lena (Kolendorfer) Paar. On Sept. 28, 1946, in South Bend, as Catherine Paar, she married Stanley E. "Pete” Stuglik, who died on Oct.11, 1971. Mrs.Stuglik was also preceded in death by her brother, Leo J. Paar.

She is survived by three daughters, Raylene Stuglik of South Bend, Anne Marie (Marcel) Freeze of Port Charlotte, Fla., and Melanie (Michael) Nowak of South Bend; brother-in-law, Ed (Mary) Stuglik of South Bend; and by a sister-in-law, Wilma Paar of Mishawaka.

Funeral services will be celebrated at 10 a.m.Thursday, April 17, in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m.today in the funeral home, where a Rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Food Bank of Northern Indiana or contributions to the Food Bank on behalf of military families.Contributions will be accepted at the funeral home
