Garold W. Spitler. 61. of San Diego. Calif., formerly of South Bend. died there Sunday.

He was born on June 18, 1921, in Plymouth and lived in South Bend for many years, graduating from Riley High School. He was a career education director of all San Diego schools, and formerly was associated with Camp Eberhart.

His wife, B.J., survives with three daughters. Miss Rusty Spitler of Oakland, Calif., Miss Celia Spitler of San Diego and Miss Laura Spitler of New York City; and two sisters. Mrs. Helen Baum of South Bend and Mrs. Frances Barham of Sun City, Calif.

Spitler was a Navy veteran of World War II.

Memorial services for Garold W. Spitler, 61, of San Diego, Calif., formerly of South Bend, who died Sunday in San Diego, will be held Friday at Mission Hills Congregational Church in San Diego. The Neptune Society in California is in charge of cremation Memorial contributions may be made to Camp Eberhart or to the Johnson O'Conner Research Foundation, 2500 Fifth Ave., Suite 600, San Diego, Calif., 92103. The research foundation matches contributions for scholarships for deserving children.
