Businessman Treacy dead at 79 James B. Treacy, the businessman who built Facet Enterprises, died Monday. He was 79. Entombment is set for 11 a.m. Thursday at Calvary Mausoleum.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Wednesday at the Church of St. Mary. Services are under the direction of Fitzgerald's Southwood Colonial Chapel. Treacy was born in Indianapolis and graduated from Notre Dame University. After college he began his career with Pan American Airlines.

In 1950 he went to work for Bendix Corp., and in 1974 he took control of a portion of a Bendix division that was formed as part of an out-of-court antitrust settlement with the Federal Trade Commission. The business was to grow into Facet Enterprises, a leading manufacturer of filters. He located the headquarters for the new company in Tulsa in 1976, the same year the company was first listed on the New York Stock Exchange. In the company's first 10 years, Treacy guided Facet from sales of $71 million to sales of $165.7 million. He retired in 1986.

Treacy was a past board member of Bank of Oklahoma and Tulsa Zoo Friends. He also had served on the boards of the Philbrook Museum of Art and the Bishop Kelley Investment Fund. He is survived by his wife, Frances Treacy; three sons, Paul Treacy of Vail, Colo., Stuart Treacy of Denver and Brian Treacy of Denver; two bothers, the Rev. Jerome Treacy of Clarkston, Mich., and John David Treacy of Boxborough, Mass.; a sister, Rosemary Eide of Estes Park, Colo.; and two grandchildren.

Friends are making memorial donations to Tulsa Zoo Friends.
