Frances D. “Fanny” Valchaff Corbett

Frances D. Corbett, 81, of Granger, Ind., formerly of Barbie Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 6:45 a.m. Friday, Jan. 24 in Hospice House, South Bend. She was born Feb. 14, 1921 in Lansing, Mich., and had lived in the South Bend area most of her life.

She married Clarence Elmer Corbett, who preceded her in death on Nov. 1, 1976. Frances is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Tim D. and Pat Corbett of Granger; nine grandchildren, Ryan Corbett, Heather (Josh) Welty, Danielle Corbett, Dalton Corbett, Mike Judson, John, Leslie and LeAnne, a great-grandson, Mason Welty and by four step-great-grandchildren, Tre, Jermaine, Alexis and Jalen.

Mrs. Corbett retired from Cira's Supermarket on South Michigan Street, South Bend, where she worked in the produce department. She served her country during World War II in the United States Army and was honorably discharged as a sergeant on June 30, 1947.
