SOUTH BEND Memorial services for Gertrude "Trudy" Knapp, 72, of Twyckenham Drive, who died at 11:11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph's Medical Center after an illness, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Grace United Church. Cremation will take Methodist, be no visitation. Forest G. Hay Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Knapp retired from the University of Notre Dame. She was born Jan. 18. 1921, in South Bend and was a lifelong area resident.
In 1945, in Rockford, Ill., as Gertrude Wolfe, she married James W. Knapp. He survives with a daughter, Nancy A. Evans of Bath, Maine; two sons, James R. of South Bend and Brian J. of Moyack, N.C.; three grandchildren; two sisters, Isel E. McCombs of Walkerton and Norma J. Davitt of South Bend; and two brothers, Charles H. Wolfe of North Liberty and Claude G. of South Ellington, Bend Fla.
She was a graduate of the South Bend Conservatory of Music and a member of Whispering Pines Golf Club, North Liberty.
