Kevin B. Mortensen
January 28, 1964 ~ August 31, 2024 (age 60)
Kevin Blake Mortensen was born in South Bend, Indiana on January 28, 1964, and passed away on August 31, 2024. He was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Mortensen and his mother, Marie (Jeffers) Mortensen.
He is survived by his siblings Tom Mortensen of Indianapolis, Sue (Greg) Brownbridge of Mishawaka and Mark Mortensen of Lakeville as well as many nieces and nephews.
Kevin was especially proud of his sons, Mitchell Mortensen (Katie McNamara) of South Bend and Riley Mortensen (Kayla Virgil) of Mishawaka who will continue to carry on the best of him. He will be missed.
Kevin was a member of the IBEW Local #153. He spent his career providing technical expertise that benefited many local businesses, schools and contractors. Kevin impacted numerous young kids as he coached countless teams of bowling, soccer, baseball and basketball athletes. He was an avid bowler himself and had achieved a 300 game. His closest friendships were forged while he worked, interacting on various playing fields and on the bowling lanes. He loved working on DIY projects, whether it be helping a friend or his own passion project. Kevin also enjoyed fishing and taking long rides on his Can Am Spyder.
In lieu of flowers or donations, the family would be comforted knowing you shared a meal, had a beer or went for a ride with the people who love you. Peace and love Kevin.
Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 5, 2024, in the Hanley and Sons Funeral Home-Southwest Chapel, 23421 S. R. 23, South Bend, IN 46614, where there will be a funeral service at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, September 6th. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger.
