In Memory

Jeffery S. Eberly
March 1, 1971 ~ October 15, 2025
Jeffery “Jeff” S. Eberly, age 54, of Mishawaka, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly on October 15, 2025.
Born on March 1, 1971, in South Bend, Indiana, Jeff was the beloved son of Jan Asbury and Rick Eberly. From his earliest days, Jeff brought humor and a sense of joy into the lives of those around him. Jeff was larger than life-a gentle giant whose warm smile, quick wit, and caring heart touched everyone who knew him. To know Jeff was to love Jeff. He never met a stranger and had a special way of making everyone feel welcome and loved.
In 1989, Jeff graduated from Riley High School and went on to attend Lake Michigan College where he played golf for both schools.
Jeff loved spending time on the golf course, playing euchre with friends and family, cheering for IU and any team that was playing against Notre Dame. In the summer, you could find him at the lake. His laughter filled every room, and his hugs were the best.
He was deeply devoted to his family, especially his beloved son, Byron, who was the light of his life and he couldn’t be prouder when Byron joined the Army in 2024. Jeff was giving, and always the first to lend a helping hand. He made it his mission to keep everyone connected. Whether it was organizing family gatherings, spending time at the lake, or just picking up the phone to check in, Jeff always found ways to bring people together. He was the glue that held us in place, and his absence will be felt profoundly by all who knew him.
At 15, Jeff survived a life-changing accident. From that moment on, he never took a single day for granted. Every year on the anniversary of the accident, he called his family and friends to express his gratitude and remind them that life itself is the greatest gift.
Left to cherish Jeff’s memory are his son, Byron Eberly of Austin, mother, Jan (Jerry) Asbury of Granger, Rick (Dee) Eberly of Edwardsburg, sister, Kim (Vance) Cole of Osceola; his nephews, Connor and Brady Cole, several very special aunts, uncles and cousins and his devoted companion, Lisa Brown. His kindness, resilience and appreciation for life left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Jeff was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Gertrude Larsen and Mardell Brunnengraber, uncles, John Larsen, Jimmy Larsen and Ken Kiel and one aunt, Deborah Larsen.
A visitation to honor and remember Jeff will be held on Monday, October 27, 2025, from 10:00am to 1:00p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, located at 10776 McKinley Hwy., Osceola, IN 46561. A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation, with burial taking place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
A celebration of Jeff’s life will be held on Monday, October 27, 2025, at 3:00p.m. at DeAmici’s Club, 302 W. 11th Street, Mishawaka, Indiana. Family and friends are invited to gather, share stories, and honor the incredible man Jeff was.
Though his time with us was far too short, Jeff’s love, laughter, and gentle spirit will remain with us always. This is not goodbye, this is see you later.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Riley High School Golf Team. 1902 S. Fellows St. South Bend, IN 46613.
