Lawrence A. Whiteman

SWAINSBORO - Lawrence A. Whiteman, 74, died Sunday in a local hospital after a brief illness. Services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday in First United Methodist Church in Swainsboro. Burial will be in Swainsboro City Cemetery. The Rev. Frank Harris will officiate.

A native of South Bend, Ind., Mr. Whiteman was a World War II Navy veteran and was plant manager of Swainsboro Sportswear, retired after 25 years of service. He was a Scottish Rite Mason and was a member of the Shrine Alee Temple, the Swainsboro Kiwanis Club, Swainsboro United Methodist Church and the Board of Stewards.

Survivors include his wife, Cathrine A. Whiteman of Swainsboro; and a sister, Lucille Reiter of Lima, Ohio.

The body will be placed in the church an hour before services. Peebles-Curry Mortuary in Swainsboro has charge of arrangements.
