In Memory
Benjamin Lee Smith
August 15, 2001 ~ November 21, 2024
It is with deep respect and honor to The Most High God that we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother, nephew, uncle and father, Benjamin Lee Smith, age 23, who was called home on November 21, 2024. Benjamin was born on August 15, 2001, to the loving union of Mark Travis Smith and Virgie Lee (Johnson) Smith, who will carry his memory in their hearts forever.
Benjamin was born into a family filled with faith, love, and abundance. He was raised in the nurturing environment of Believers Church of God and Christ, where he gave his life to Christ and was baptized at Christ Temple Apostolic Church during Vacation Bible School. Later, he became a member of Faith Alive Ministries, where he continued his spiritual journey.
Benjamin graduated from Riley High School, where he was an active member of the marching band, playing the trombone, and participated in football. He was employed by Four Winds Casino, where he was a proud member of the security team, always dedicated to his work and colleagues.
Benjamin’s memory will live on in the hearts of his beloved daughter, Bliss Desire R’Cola Smith, and her mother, MiKya Sabbs. He is also survived by his parents, Mark T. Smith and Virgie Smith; his brothers, Manson Smith, Mark T. (Jessyka) Smith, and Carlton Smith; his sisters, Sierra Smith, Mariah Smith, Taylor Smith, and Kaytlin Smith; and his grandfather, Firdia Lee Johnson. He was deeply loved by his extended family, including his aunts, Jacqueline (Gregory) Boswell, Marlene (Terry) Waddell, Varena Edwards and Solenia Carr; Uncles, Firdia B Johnson, Micheal (Roxanne) Poole, Terry (Makisha) Johnson, William Bradford, Francois Bradford, Jas Alexander and a host of cousins, and friends.
Growing up with Benjamin, his brothers and sisters will always remember him as intelligent, charismatic, goofy and spontaneous. He had a special way of making others laugh, even in serious moments. Ben never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with just about anyone. He had a remarkable ability to bring comic relief to any situation, brightening the lives of those around him. There could never be a moment too dull with Ben around. Like all his siblings, Ben knew that he was covered by the Lord’s blessing and favor, and he always had the support of a praying mother who was there for him through it all.
Benjamin is preceded in glory by his maternal grandmother, Virgie Johnson, paternal grandmother, Clementine Hill, and his beloved cousins, Dante Townsend and Martel Nicholson.
A Celebration of Life will be held 11AM, Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at Faith Alive Ministries, 909 Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN 46628. Family and friends are invited to join us as we honor and remember the beautiful life of Benjamin Lee Smith. The Smith Family would like to thank everyone for the love shown during this challenging time. Special thanks to Faith Alive Ministries and Boyd & Son Funeral Home.
