William "Billy" Dale Bowman

November 12, 1950 ~ January 19, 2019 (age 68)

MISHAWAKA – William “Billy” D. Bowman, 68, residing in Mishawaka, Indiana passed away Saturday, January 19, 2019 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka.

Billy was born on November 12, 1950 in South Bend, Indiana and was adopted at a very early age.  He has lived in the South Bend and Mishawaka area his entire life, graduating from Riley High School, South Bend.  Billy proudly served our country as a Private First Class in the United States Army Company D 3rd Battalion.  For his service to our nation, he was awarded the National Defense Service Metal and Sharpshooter Honors.  Following his military service, he worked for many years in the factory at Wheel Horse Lawn and Garden Tractors, South Bend (The Toro Company). He enjoyed playing in many local bands, and also attended church at Currant Road Church of Christ, Mishawaka.

Billy is survived by his loving companion, Penny Shafer, of Mishawaka; along with his son, Brian (Angel) Bowman of Syracuse, Indiana; grandchildren, Cassie, Ellsie, and Carter Bowman.  Billy was preceded in death by his parents, John A. and Beulah L. Bowman; and his two sisters.

Funeral Services and Military Rites for Billy will be at 3:00 pm, Sunday, January 27, 2019 at Palmer Funeral Home River Park Chapel, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, Indiana 46615, where friends may gather with the family for two hours prior.  Memorial contributions may be made to Palmer Funeral Home to assist the family with funeral expenses.
